Then he went to work in the Shelby County Sheriff's Office from 1983-2003. He served in the Patrol and Traffic Divisions and the Metro DUI Unit.
Donald currently holds instructor certifications with the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance Private Protective Services and the State of Arkansas for security officer certifications. He can offer certifications for both armed and unarmed security officers.
Additionally, he is certified as a firearms insturctor for both the Tennessee & Mississippi handgun permits.
Donald is a certified NRA Training Counselor. This certification allows him to train and certify new NRA firearms instructors in Pistol, Shotgun Rifle and Tactical shooting. He holds certifications as both a civilian and law enforcement firearms instructor.
Donald is a TASER instructor through TASER INC. (now known as AXON), a Chemical Agent instructor through Safariland INC. as well as a baton and Tactical Handcuffing instructor through ASP INC.
Donald serves as a Police Officer Standards & Training (POST) instructor where he certifies retired LEO's under the Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act (LEOSA) in accordance with United States Congress H/R 218.
Donald is also has served as a faculty member with the University of Phoenix and Southwest Tenessee Community College teaching criminal justice.
Donald holds two Masters Degrees from the University of Memphis. The first is Masters in Public Administration and the second is Masters in Criminal Justice. His undergraduate degree is in Law Enforcement Administration.
Donald is a student of Krav Maga & Jiu-Jitsu where he holds a purple belt.

A new era began in 2003 when Donald began working with Memphis's finest in the Memphis Police Department.
He worked in specialized units of the MPD Firearms Training Unit at the Memphis Police Academy and the at Memphis Police Department DUI Unit.
In 1989 he began service with the Shelby County Division of Corrections.
He served as the Operations Manager, Unit Manager, and Director of Training for the Shelby County Training Academy until retiring in 2016.
